Happy Valentines Day!

Wow, unbelievable. It's Valentines Day already, and it seems like we just had Christmas. Remember how when you were a kid time seemed to move so slowly, holidays seemed to be an eternity between one another. As we age it seems things we recall as just yesterday were really 3-4 years back.

So what have you got going for Valentines Day? This is one of those years where I'm not in a relationship. That always sucks. Even more so if you're a girl. You have two choices basically. You can sit at home by yourself or with girlfriends, eat an entire tub of chocolate ice cream and watch a DVD that will make you cry. Or you can go out with a guy who is going to read all sorts of things into the fact you agreed to go out with him on such a special day.

I'll opt for the latter, but no games here. He's gonna know straight up that this is just a friendly kinda thing. I know you guys hate that, but which is worse? Letting you know that right up front or letting you think it's something more than it really is?

Merry Christmas!

When did Christmas get so politically correct? I guess I should say Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings. Hey, I hope you're having a great time celebrating the season in whatever way suits your beliefs.

Me, I'm a traditional southern girl. I like Christmas Trees, tacky lights and Santa Claus.

So dont drink too much egg nog and here's wishing you a great Christmas!

Shopping...

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to hate shopping...

I guess my previous blog about Black Friday was more dead on than I would've thought. You guys see all the crap on the news with people trampling each other at Wal-mart and getting into fights? If someone thinks someone else is getting a deal, they want in on it. Small supplies suddenly create huge demand.

I'm doing most of my shopping online, I do more and more of it online every year. But there's always those handful of items that I just feel I have to at least check out in person before ordering, and that means I have to get out there with the crowds. It's so bad here that trying to drive around on Saturday and Sunday is like rush hour even before you get near the mall.

Black Friday

I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving Holiday. I did the traditional get stuffed on turkey with the family thing.

Some of my friends are trying to talk me into going out into the madness of "Black Friday" tomorrow. I love to shop, but how the heck can anyone enjoy trying to shop when there are lines everywhere, no parking spaces and absolutely packed stores.

My friends say "yeah, but there are bargains!". Hey, I'm an online kinda girl. If I'm buying something I'm really cost conscious about, I'm buying it online. Very few items that I cant find cheaper online than at the store.

Now with that said, if someone see's an Xbox 360, grab me a couple. One for me to play, and one for me to sell on Ebay to some desperate parent needing it for a Christmas gift.

Peach Fresca

Do you remember the grapefruit diet drink Fresca? It's never gone away that I know of, but it's hardly a consumer favorite. I think it's something about the word "grapefruit" when spoken with "soda" that freaks people out, they just don't believe it could be any good. Most of my friends who have tried it seem to like it though.

Well Coca-Cola has decided to give the brand a new marketing push and have put out two new flavors, Peach and Black Cherry. I highly recommend you give them a try if you see them as they are quite excellent, especially the peach one.

Don't look for the word grapefruit on the can though, you won't find it anywhere other than the ingredients listing. I guess they figure if people didn't think grapefruit soda sounded good that they certainly wouldn't think grapefruit and black cherry together would sound any better. :)

It really is good though, give it a shot and let me know what you think!

Disco Dooky

Do you have satellite radio yet? My car has it, and I am SO addicted to it. No commercials and tons of music of any type you could possibly want.

I've caught myself listening to a couple of channels that play a lot of disco. I wasn't around for the disco craze, but I like to dance and love contemporary club music. So I'm sure I would've really been into disco if I was around at the time. Even now I love the beats even though the songs themselves are almost campy.

However, it's funny how the human brain works sometimes. I'm sure everyone has misheard lyrics before, some songs are quite famous for it. A good example being people who hear Jimi Hendrix "Excuse me, while I kiss the sky" as "Excuse me while I kiss this guy". Well, for some reason I heard one of the zillion or so songs with the word "boogie" in it and my brain translated that to "dooky". Don't ask me where my head was, I don't even know myself. But it cracked me up because I got to thinking about how well that word substitutes for pretty much any song with the word "boogie" in it.

"Put on my dooky shoes"

"I'm your dooky man, that's what I am"

"Spirit of the Dooky!" "The dooky is back again!"

"Dooky nights"

"I'm gonna dooky ooky ooky til I just can't dooky no more"

Something Less Exciting

After last weekend I need a little less excitement this time around! I think what I'm planning to do is just hang out with a couple of my girlfriends. We might go see the new Chicken Little movie (it looks cute!) and do a little shopping.

I'm also thinking dinner at The Cheesecake Factory would hit the spot on Saturday night. Mmmmm... cheesecake...

If you've never eaten there and have one near you, I highly recommend it. The menu is extensive, with anything from Asian cuisine to country cooking. I'll admit though that they don't excel with the type specific foods, but overall it's quite tasty. What I mean is if you go there in the mood for Mexican you can get a burrito, but don't expect it to taste like a burrito you'd get from a real Mexican restaurant.

But the cheesecake... Mmmmmm....
